- Swedish Massage
Introduction to body therapy, holistic model of health; client/practitioner communications and boundaries; body mechanics; basic anatomy
- Advanced Circulatory Massage
Cardio-pulmonary, lymphatic and respiratory systems, ROM, superficial and deep musculature, actions, origins, insertions.
- Connective Tissue & Myofascial Release
Client assessment, postural evaluations, superficial to deep connective tissues, CT techniques, nervous systems, pain cycles, classification, myofascial release, cranial-sacral connection, fascial planes, body-mind communication.
- Deep Tissue Massage/Soft Tissue Mobilization
Soft tissue mobilization techniques, releasing cross-restrictions affecting structural balance, scar tissue release, body armoring, referred pain and trigger point techniques.
- Sports Massage / Personal Fitness / Nutrition
Classifications of sports massage, kinesiology, structure/location of sheathed tendons, synovial joints, classifications of muscle tissue; fiber twitch, seated massage, sports venues, hydrotherapy, thermal and cryo-therapy, metabolism, nutrition and exercise
- Facilitated Stretching
Basic techniques of proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation, stretching as part of treatment, common injuries and chronicities benefited by facilitated stretching, golgi tendon and muscle spindles cells, reflex response, contraindications of ballistic stretching.
- Acupressure
The traditional Chinese medicine description of Qi, meridians, energy flow, acu-points, five elements, non-invasive point treatment using shiatsu principles, balancing energy.
- Specialty Massage
Indentifying specialty clients, pregnancy and infant massage, elderly and hospice care, sensitivity and boundaries, spa and wellness treatments.
- Business Success Skills
Ethics and boundaries, communications, sales and promotions, business principles for massage therapists, creating a business plan, marketing, credit, taxes.
- Health/Wellness
Microbes, mechanisms of disease transmission, safety, sanitation, disinfection, CPR/AED/First Aid.
The course length is divided into both technical classroom instruction in the science and art of massage therapy. You will receive traditional classroom training; however, the majority of training is learned through practical, hands-on exercises working on fellow students. This format provides an exceptional learning experience that prepares students with a solid background of practical hands-on training directly related to the clinical massage industry.
